Is there a better alternative to Paypal? I haven't used it in 4 or 5 years, but may need to use it again sometime.

unfortunately no, American Express tried with their "serve" setup but that ended up being worse than paypal.

All this over a lack of an email? Systems do glitch, you know.

Another question. Do your family members often randomly send money to you without telling you in advance?

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

It occurs to me that I've never dealt with individuals before when buying or selling. You just ship mechandise and payment simultaneously on trust? Or does the buyer send payment after the item has arrived?

Usually buyer sends payment and then seller ships after payment clears - similar to a store.

Yes, a lot of trust is involved.

I despise PP, but I suffer they're a necessary evil. I'm going to start offering a Money Order Only price on stuff I sell. Thanks for that idea, Rick.

For the past week or so, I've been getting withdrawal confirmation emails several days after the fact. Everything else seems fine, just delayed email.

well if you don't know the money is in there, they make interest on it, no?

And now I'm on hold, getting the run around. You had to hear the heming and hawing of the specialist in accounting. If she was a witness on the witness stand, she'd be charged and found guilty of perjury. What a crock of crap.

What exactly is the big deal here? They didn't charge you anything to use their service. The money got their safely and your daughter told you she sent it. I can't imagine sending someone money and not personally emailing them to make sure all was OK, so their notification seems a bit redundant. Were you expecting the money and didn't log in to check because Paypal didn't send you the notification?

You didn't pay anything for the service, and you don't have any contract with them that has a service level agreement, so they owe you nothing. Be happy you got your money safely, and at no cost to you.

Or maybe you could keep pressing them for a refund on the $0 fee you paid them. ;)
