Heads up. It looks like this tripod is going back on sale for Black Friday (actually 23, 24, 25 while supplies last).

$80.

Don't try that... maybe you're risking your gears..
A friend of mine had a bad one. The tripod dropped her Nikon 24-70, the lens got repaired at a cost of $800, enough to buy a very good Gitzo..

Fly me away.

Would be interesting to know the cause or nature of the tripod failure.

Have two of these tripods and both work very well for a light travel unit. Holds my 7D with a 70-200 f2.8L with no problem.

Not sure what kind of conversation you are trying to envoke or just taking stabs for kicks. If people enjoy and use their equipment and it's a good value to them then what's the bother?

Exactly, this tripod has worked perfectly for me, the price was just the icing on the cake. It has held up very well, yes my gear isn't as heavy as others but it holds up fine and is very sturdy.

The previous comment reminds me of another forum (music) where members complain bout the audience and how they didn't dance or move or sing..... Isn't everyone entitled to enjoy how they feel and wish? I mean I'm sure that person paid for their very own ticket, doubt the complainers purchased it.

It's back on sale until 01/06/13 apparently it's been back since 12/17/12 I almost missed out again. This time I'd make sure I get one. :)

Go for it Peter! I switched to a Manfrotto ball head I had which I think is smoother to adjust, plus I had extra RC2 plates and did not want to buy extra Dolica plates. Not a bad set of legs though.

This they ever modify the head so it's really arca swiss compatible? Last I heard from them, they were working on it (it's very close so it should just have been a minor machining change).

I wouldn't do really serious work on it either, but for a light travel tripod that expendable in case the TSA (US or other countries') goons decide to declare your tripod a dangerous weapon (there was a recent article on this), you won't feel too bad about leaving it instead of paying $500 to check it in and then have them lose it...

There's a Dolica CF tripod on sale again, for Presidents' Day

I have a Manfrotto already but this one is a lot lighter and would fit in a carry-on, so I'm thinking about it.

Just bought one about two weeks ago for $100. I'll just order another one and return the new one with my old receipt. Unless Costco does price match instore?

They will adjust your purchase just take the receipt to the store.

I have a question for those who have this tripod, does the center column have a small amount of rotational play in it after it's locked? Mine does and so far it has not been an issue but I wish it locked completely tight. I confirmed it's not the ball head it's the center shaft. Just wondering if there is a problem with mine.

The tripod is solid and I love it. Anyone call it cr@p just because it is not brand name or expensive is trying to prove Toyota sux cuz it not driving oriented like a BMW. The thing works and it is all that matter.
