I just got my 100L few days ago, I am dying to go out and do some shooting, but weather is very cold and I postponed 2 portraits shoot till next week. Have any of you used the 100L for portrait work? I only see tons of macro images all over the board, but no people.

Can you guys share some?

It takes excellent portraits. Not as good as the 135mm f2 or the 100mm f2, but I prefer it's look to the 85mm 1.8 and other portrait lenses.

Sorry, not at my fingertips. Most portraits I've taken in the last year have been with the 135mm. Check out this thread... https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=827746

I use one for close up beauty work all the time, but not for head
shots.

While I prefer the 85L and 135L for portraiture, here are a few “portraits” taken at events with the 1DsIII/100L combination:

Also, the macro is really too sharp for headshots.

The last pic i posted is outdoors "available light". Ill look to see what else I can scratch up. I dont use that lens much for headshots/portraits.

excellent portrait lens. Super sharp and the bokeh is butter smooth. You miss a little bit of the oomph of a 135L @f2 but with the added benefit of macro and IS.

I had the 135L and traded for a 100L to add versatility to my kit without adding more lenses.

I see, but it is strange that nobody post any portrait work on POTN with the 100L
