I have a gripped 7D. I shoot about 80% of my stuff vertically (one reason I like the grip). Mostly basketball.

Is anyone aware of a handstrap or adaptation that might work well for this?

Not a big fan of net straps or other systems, Currently wrap the strap around my wrist for some small amount of security should i "drop" it.

Welcome thoughts.

Jim

I'm shooting a 7D with a grip, and it LOOKS like my Herringbone handstrap has a strap that's long enough to reach from the tether point on the right side of the grip, along the bottom and up to the tether point on the top left side of the body.

Hmmmm.....I just tried it out, and it DOES work, although not with a lot of extra strap length, and my hands aren't huge.

Looking at how it's made, it might be fairly easy to swap out the strap for a longer one, then to simply thread the strap through the support pad. DIY might produce JUST what you need, with a little imagination and experimenting!

Let us know how you make out!

Hello. Is the E1 Handstrap something along the lines you are interested in?

Thanks for the reply.

I've looked at the canon, but was not sure about the vertical aspect of it. Reviews in that regard seem a bit mixed or unclear. B&H lists as no longer available.

I'll poke around a bit more. The herringbone DIY may be my option.

Jim

Ok I found a place that had the canon in stock. I just ordered it. Might not be a permanent solution, but might provide necessary parts for the DIY solution.
