Pileated Portrait

This Pileated woodpecker(female I think) was feeding at the house today. So I decided to do a portrait shot of her.

Nice shot. Yes female, the male has a red bar along side the head.

she and her portrait are beautiful. Guess it's not cold enough around here for them to come in to a feeder, as I see them in the woods, but not near the house. Guess you deserve some compensation for that wintery weather.

The snow is deep enough that the birds have some trouble finding food and seem content to feed at the house.

Pileateds have been feeding here for a few years now and seem to feel pretty safe when feeding here.

Thanks for answering this question...I missed it. You are correct about the red streak on the beak.
