Better they take their time and get it right, without QA/QC issues, than rushing something to the market...

I'd actually not mind if they stop this insane upgrade speed, release something new every 3 or 4 years, so I don't constantly have this little nagging voice of "there's something sooo much better out now, buy buy buy!" in my head ;-)a

Good thing is that the current crop is so good that I can eventually say that's it and stick with a camera for 10 years - I hope ...

True, I don't think the current 7D compares that badly with the new Nikon, except for the sensor technology. The Nikon's 1.3x in-body crop feature sounds cool but you just crop in PP if needed, so not a real necessity...

I am going to wait on the 70D hopefully in March. I have a 30D and its time to upgrade. I will keep my money with Canon. Not going to switch and start all over.

I hope they don't release anything, matching each other would lead to boring equivalent cameras.

I wouldn´t put much hope on the 70D. I did it before and Canon let me down almost every time, except for the 5D3 that I find awesome.
No big leap on sensor technology. Probably just different pixel count.
Probably it will get the touchscreen thingy from the t4i.
I don´t see anything revolutionary coming. Even the D7100 is not revolutionary at all.

What I DO see coming are comments like "Canon lost the ball" and "D7100 will blow the 70D out of the water" and "My 60D had better image quality and focused better in the dark". Those are certainly coming. :D

Photography is about GEAR and not talent or practice. Practice won't make you a better photographer. Expensive equipment will. =D

Seems to me that Nikon just wants to stop selling the D7000 at $900 and sell a slightly newer D7100 at full price again at $1200.

Talk about silk purse from a sow's ear:

"1.3x Crop Mode - Sports photographers take note: Building upon the telephoto benefits of the DX-format, the D7100 has the unique ability to shoot in a 1.3x DX crop mode for both stills and HD video. While in this innovative mode, shooters will gain an extra telephoto boost (2X), and a boost in burst speed to seven fps, with 15.4- megapixel resolution. Additionally, while in this mode, the 51-point AF array covers more of the frame, allowing improved subject acquisition and tracking performance through the viewfinder."

Translation:
"We had to reduce the resolution in order to get 7 fps burst speed to not-quite match the 4 year old 7D. We also had to reduce the sensor size to compensate for our center-cluster of the AF array. But, never-mind, you won't have to crop in PP and we get to advertise 51 AF points and hope you don't notice they are all centrally located."

You're welcome! ;)

What will the differences be between the 7DII and the 70D?
