Strap. Not always around my neck.

Agreed, I use a strap for two things - so I don't drop it off of a cliff or in the water in odd places, and for macro shooting as kind of a "ready steady", like a rifle sling (that can take some fiddling to get the strap length just right).

I tried the BR strap and didn't like it and I also dont like neck straps. I was carrying strapless but now I use a simple leather wrist strap as a safety precaution.

I guess I'm a little late to the party. I rarely use a strap. Had a strap catch on a bag many years ago and jerk the camera from my hand. That's when I removed it. I only put it on when it's really needed.
