Alright Canon lets get on the ball. Nikon just released there D7100 today.

Good for Nikon...
I'm happy to see that Nikon released whatever it is they released... haven't looked at any specs, and probably won't, I just don't really concern myself with Nikon stuff...

To me, this just means Canon will release whatever they feel is needed to compete, and that's good for all of us..

Its always interesting to see how accurate rumors are and how many there are online from different sources. It must be hard for any manufacture to keep release dates for any product they make. Some with thousands of employees all it takes is one to spread the rumor and it all starts. I Will wait for Canon to get it right. I have had Canon cameras for many years and that's where it lies. Looking forward for the 70D and the 7D mk11. My 30D is tired but it has served well.
To the gentlemen in Bangkok I sure hate to see you get up on the wrong side of the bed and start your day off wrong!!!

I would expect the 70D (if there is one) to have the same sensor as the T4I, with improved high-ISO performance compared to my 60D. I prefer better high-ISO over more megapixels.

But it doesn't matter anyway. I just spent my 70D budget on a 70-300L.

I've read that the 60D has BETTER high iso compared to the t4i.......

nikon on paper looks better in almost every aspect.... not the end for canon, this will force them to release better bodies, or die within a few iterations.

this is the one body that looks like a blowout can definitely happen. With the D600 vs 6D, there were pros and cons for each system, same with D800 vs 5D3. Currently canon doesnt have anything like the 7100... looks like a damn hard act to follow.

Really???

How so?

I'm sorry, but the D7100 seems like a pretty ho-hum release to me. The 24MP and the price seem to me to be the major things, but overall, the camera is a pretty minor upgrade over the 7D, and in several areas is still behind the 7D.

What am I missing?

Welcome to the club! The lens is FANTASTIC.

And the 17-55 is still a bangin lens on the 18mp sensors, not sure what that comment was about.

Shot my brothers t4i next to my 7D in low light and the t4i is wicked with high ISO and low noise. I found the auto white balance was much better than the 7D.

Why is eveyone so worried about Canon after Nikon released this consumer camera?

Did we forget that the 1Dx exist and its the best thing since sliced bread?

oh wait, I forgot, its all about megapixels and dynamic range.

carry on

based off dxo reports, I think the t4i scored worse than the 60D when it came to high iso. better AWB would be nice for the video work I do.

not everyone can afford a 1dx... most can afford the d7100.... and it's not just about mpx and dynamic range, the loss of an AA filter.... I dont recall that ever being done on a dslr, and that gets the crop camera 1 step closer to FF IQ... what's not to like?

Honestly the only thing that intreages me about the d7100 is the fact that the sensor will not have a low pass filter on it.

I'm curious to see how we'll that works out and how much effect is has on resolution and what extra PP needs may come along with it.

There are a couple of DSLRs out there without AA filters, between Pentax, Nikon and others.
