It's listed on the front page of their web site right now for qualifying items and I followed the procedure to the letter--Take a look!

"Valid for purchases made between January 31, 2013 - March 2, 2013."

Like I said--bunch of idiots.

What item were you trying to buy? Was it marked with "low price garauntee" like it says on that page? I haven't really found anything that has my badge in my few seconds of perusing.

Was yours a qualifying product? Probably not.

This just might be Best Buy's saving grace because they haven't been doing so well lately. I remember going there a few months ago to look at possibly picking up the pancake, and everything was just screaming for a price check , no all jokes aside if they honor the price match to the reputable online retailers it might actually be worth it to shop brick and mortar every once in a while. I guess my biggest question is whether or not they will respect the promotions like the Canon Lenses and Speedlite instant rebates or if that already factors in to the price match with online retailers.

Want to guess again?

I took in a copy of both Newegg and Amazon showing the price of 599.99

Any other excuses?

Not excuses, just seeing if that was the case.

And the newegg and amazon link? I looked on both sites and didn't see the exact model #. Which is one of the ways they avoid price matching by saying its not an exact match.

Last four letters are meaningless model # is a match and BB knows this. I think not living up to the hype of price matching will not do a lick of good. They will make up the losses selling $100 HDMI cables, surge protectors and extended warranty plans to the suckers.

That's what the floor associate told me and verified that it qualified for price matching--I'll go get approval and be right back.

Then it was NewEgg is sold out and we can't log into Amazon to verify the price--despite having it on both my printouts--but at that price it has to be a refurb because it is under our cost.

3 1/2 days later no response from BB corporate.

I was out an hour of my time and a gallon of gas--and Amazon is delivering tomorrow to my front door so no real loss.

I'm done with this thread--but be wary of using the policy for limited time offers or something you really want. ;)

If they are going to make customers waste time over the price matching instead of being proactive about it, most folks are going to see the higher price and walk. Same thing re hassling people over the warranties. People have little tolerance for this type of BS any more. This is just a ploy to pump the stock price prior to the expected buyout offer at the end of the month.

Sounds like it was the model# game. Vendor specific model number that can never match or where the vendor has one less or one more hdmi port so they can cliam its not the same. Playing this kinda thing will backfire on them.

Re: Serious concerns about the new (unconfirmed) price matching policy from a loyal customer

Ummmm...one could can make a pretty solid argument that "customers" offended by this policy are "customers" Best Buy doesn't need.

Just goes to show that keeping this company in biz is on par with supporting camera shops that bait and switch.

The best price matching hands down was "the Wiz". Too bad they shut down in the early 90s.
"Nobody beats the Wiz, Nobody beats the Wiz!"
And don't get me started on Crazy Eddie.

Ahh, The Wiz. I bought a good amount of stuff from them over the years. Cablevision bought the chain when it was in bankruptcy and used it to push their then-new cable internet service. It worked but then they shut the chain down after they established their service.

I can't wait until Best Buy goes the way of Circuit City, what a bunch of clowns. It's just a matter of time.

I'm with you, that return I did 5 years ago didn't make me a return customer. The sooner they are gone, the better
