Greetings!

I have a Canon Powershot G5 and previously when I downloaded the ZoomBrowser in OS Windows 98, I did not have problems viewing, editing etc my pictures. However, I have since upgraded my OS to MS OS XP Home Edition by getting a laptop. Recently I installed ZoomBrowser v4.5 and this was what I could view after downloading my pictures:

I could not view my pictures except the default Windows Picture. I miss the ZoomBrowser features and really hope you could help me out.

Thanks in advance and cheers!

Welcome to the forum, Sangfroid

Yesterday I was reading about issues around the ZoomBrowser installation because my updater to ver. 5.6 failed (The Menu Bar was missing).
I solved the problem uninstalling ZoomBrowser, re-installing ver 4.6 from the Canon ‘Solution Disk’ that came with my Pro1 and running the update program again.

If you decide to re-instal the Program be sure to install it in the same hard drive of the operating system ( usually C: ), ZoomBrowser can not run correctly from other hard drive like D:

Also be sure that your pictures are in a folder outside the Program Files folder.

If your pictures are in other computer, you must check that your laptop has enough permission to access the folders.

After getting Zoombrowser EX ver 4.x running in your computer download the updater to ver 5.6 from the Canon web site.

I know that this is just basic information, but I hope it will help.

What version of ZB had you previously been using? IIRC, changing from 2.x to later versions involved migrating the database as well. And somewhere along the way Canon stopped supporting earlier versions of JPEG files.

Thanks for your responses. I will try out your suggestions, fingers crossed.

I have always had the ZB version 4.5. My needs are simple and I was satisfied with the ZB v4.5 features. Since it did not give me any problems, I did not think further to upgrade the software to a higher version. I guess I am left with no choice.

Cheers.
