Yes, this lens is a specialty lens, but it sure is fun. I've really enjoyed using it since I got it a few months ago. I haven't shot with the 15mm 2.8, so I'm not really qualified to answer your question, but with the 8-15, you can definitely shoot down into the 14mm range before the circular fisheye look starts to really set in. You wouldn't think that 1mm would make that much of a difference, but the difference between 14mm and 15mm is pretty significant.
