This or the 70-200 f4 IS? I will mainly use it for family traveling pictures and portraits. Maybe some ski and surfing as well.

I don't know.. From my experience with d7000 and 18-200 there is some difference between the FLs but not huge diff. Ive never used primes so im not sure if i will miss the versatility.
