Could only make it out to the afternoon session, which had a fair bit of downtime with a written off Integra and a fair amount of rain.

#7 of the MX-5 is very nice, great sense of speed and tension in that one. I like the shallow DoF in many of them, well done.

Cheers mate, that last one (and somewhat with the mx5 as well) I was trying out the zoom panning or whatever its called technique. Its pretty tricky, but makes for something different. These were all with 1D4 and 70-200IS II, which is one mighty combo.

Cheers mate, no I couldn't get out to Top gear, I was at Soundwave all day.

I did hear however that there was a pretty nasty crash though, where the driver needed to be cut from the car and was quite badly injured. Its such an unforgiving track

Yeah there was a major incident in the Italian cup. I was down at the bus stop photographing when the red flags came out and we turned around to see a black alfa slammed into the tyre wall. I watched from afar through the camera lens, and it didn't seem like it took that long to get him out - maybe a minute or two, but then he was laid on the ground and the medics were running around and working on him pretty hard. Not sure of the details but I did see some resuscitation going on - so it was quite serious.

Actually just read on the Queensland Raceway FB page this very moment that he has passed away today - very sad news.

Is #8 some sort of zoom effect? What setup are you using! Everything looks pretty stellar, nice job!

I just read this before as well, very sad to hear indeed.

If you ever see me out come say hi! I'm usually there in a silver forester parked up near wherever I'm shooting from.

Thanks mate, yeah I believe its called a zoom burst? Its tricky, and something I hadny tried before but I reckon its good for adding some variance to the shots. Basically using a slow shutter speed as you would with panning, but zooming out while you pan and take the shot. I did this one hand held, but had many many throwaway shots trying to get it. Next time I will try it on a monopod which I think will keep the camera sturdier to allow the zoom without shaking the camera. #7 also has a very slight amount of this aswell. Was with a 1D4 and 70-200IS II.
