@Sarah- thanks! I've considered whether the thumbnail listing is unnecessary, but as plum points out, it's a tough choice. I'll probably end up doing some A/B testing to see what visitors generally use more effectively.

@plum- glad to hear you liked the rest of it. Thanks for giving it a second chance, and getting back to me!

@Juvar & Mike- THANK YOU!! You guys rock. I was not aware of the existence of that CSS property, and it seems like just what I've been looking for. I'll look into it further & report back.

Thanks again to everyone! You feedback is appreciated. If there's more, I'm all ears (eyes?) =)

A lot of people are going to miss them with the design the way it is... they won't hang about long enough to look through the site.

same thing with me. the entrance makes me not want to view the pictures either. and I didn't until you mentioned the photos of vienna. Which if you'd like critique, we could save it for another post.

I suggest correcting the words at least. You're site seems like too much for having too little. I think you should have a more minimalistic approach.

You really don't need a website now unless you intend on going more into the field soon, I think 500px.com or flickr would be best for sharing your type of every day images. Websites are more so for portfolio work you'd like to showcase clients. But personally, I think you should focus more on your photo skills so that people would even want to view them. Most of them just look like stock images, something i'd look at only if I needed graphics for my company.

Hey ventureon, remind me not to hire you as my marketing director, but I'm glad you think the site is too nice for my photos ;-)a

I'm wondering what you mean by "correcting the words"?

Update: So I've implemented CSS transitions on the front page. The animations, then, should be smooth as butter... if your browser supports them, that is, if not- no animations for you!

I'd be curious to hear from all of you who mentioned it being jerky on whether or not it works better for you now. (http://www.danielbrizuela.com/ (external link))

Thanks everyone!
