At least it works. I wish I could say the same thing about my iPad that I dropped yesterday. Sigh.

RIP.. it hurts to hear that..

looks like the lens is knackered. Get a new one. As honestly the 18 - 55 isnt worth fixing

Sounds like time to upgrade! Are there any good camera stores in Dubai?

Time for a new lens my friend. Put the busted one on sale. I sold my 50mm f1.8 with stuck AF ring for £35. Someone will be smart than you and I that can fix or need it for parts.

I'd call it broken at this point. Open it up and see if you can salvage it. If not, no big deal since it's already broken. Also, I agree that someone would probably buy it for parts.

Get a 17-55 and see how much it blows away the 18-55, my 18-55 has taken some pretty good shots but 17-55 kills it completely.

most warranties won't cover dropped lenses though...

They can tell if it was a defect or if the lens was damaged by a drop. You already described some physical damage, so I doubt they'll miss that. They might be nice and replace it, but don't get your hopes up.

Are u sure that this "damage" was not there before the drop? If ur not, then it may be fungus etc. But it's unlikely on almost new lens. If ur sure that it is a result of dropping the lens and it does not affect image quality, then just forget about it and keep taking photos. Having it fixed will cost at least 3 times more than the actual cost of a brand new lens. And you can forget about having it done under warranty. Warranty does not cover for accidental damage.
