^^^thanks for the worldly advise, why didnt i think of that? maybe because these people were on the move and i don't know any other way to recompose the shot using ai servo!

You probably know this as you have plenty of experience in photography, but I use BBF + servo with my 7D + 200L to achieve the recomposing. Of course for people walking towards or away from you it's almost impossible as you stated also. It sometimes helps a little to have different focus point based on camera body orientation, but of course that cannot be used all the time.

I think those are good pics for street photography. Well captured!

thanks for your suggestion but I chose to use center focus point instead of the other 45 autofocus points available on the camera for these people as they were not moving very quickly. as you can see with my other people shots in this thread, i did frame my shots using rule of thirds. (no crop) i could've cropped the photos in my last post but I chose no to!

the funny thing is, I looked back at some of their posts and they also had subjects dead center of the photo, hypocrites maybe? it's not much of a rule but more out of convenience!!!

this kid gave me the best answer about following rules when I asked him why he colored the clouds pink in his drawings. he said "I color it pink because it reminds me if cotton candy, and that's what I like"

happy shooting

As somebody else has pointed out already...the rule of thirds is not like the law of gravity. Just look at the head shots / portraits of Peter Hurley. He is ignoring the rule of thirds just as often as he adheres to it. Fact is that his style has created a ton of buzz and another ton of followers...

Enough talk. Lately I thought about selling this lens. Now with my newly acquired 1Div, I have to get this lens out again and see what that combo can do.
Some older shots below.

Cheers.

ilini181: I really look forward to your further posts ... that pic is about as good as it gets for an action shot.
