I think you did very well Burnet.

#2 is cool in the timing but I don't think I would show the team a miss.

Three batters, three pitchers, and a slide into base. Was the score 1-0? Seems like you could have capture something better.

Actually those were 3 different games
I posted to get c and c on pp, cropping, action anything people wanted to say
with my 70-200 actual tight shots of field action are tough
I dont have a 300 or 400

here are the links to the games
http://firstdownphotos.photoreflect.com …/thumbpage.aspx?e=8860472 (external link)
http://firstdownphotos.photoreflect.com …/thumbpage.aspx?e=8860380 (external link)
http://firstdownphotos.photoreflect.com …/thumbpage.aspx?e=8859701 (external link)

I will take any C and C

I think the scores were 4-0 with a grand slam in the night game
the other 2 JV games were 16-2 and 14-5
lots of e's and misses in the outfield

as I said and c and c I welcome

I prob didnt post the pics in a good story line?

Tight action with that lens is going to be tough, unless you're on first base side and play happens at first, etc. but I think you're on the right track. A couple of the photos, you would've benefited from being in a different position so the light would be on the player's face. Sometimes that can't be helped though. The other poster is correct IMO, I don't keep foul offs or strikeouts. If they're swinging, it was in the field. May have been an out but it was put in play. This is better also because when it's put in play, they will follow it with their eyes.

glad you think they are better
still a long way to go
I prob dont shoot enough
I dont spray and pray

shot another game on the same field
lights recycle so many are dark
Im trying 3.2 1/1000 and 800 iso
Ill see if LR can save em
I had better luck underexposing them
just need to find out what the limit is

prob post a few tomorrow
baseball is boring and the wind has been blowing 30+ here for 2 weeks
kills my ears

yeah I know ear muffs
to many years coaching to really care

thanks again to all
maybe Ill be decent some day
my basketball ones were better this year I think
what few games I did after my 40d got back from the Dr.

I enjoy your pictures and like your comments on the forum. Your active and have helpful comments to members, but, man, you're too hard on yourself. If grandpa likes them, and buys them, that's what counts. My short time here I've learned its an expensive hobby. If that's the best your equipment can do, so be it. I think they're good myself.

thanks rob
sorry for the pity party
I am a humble guy

too many years playing and coaching I guess
just hacks me off when I dont do well
Im trying I really am
but as Ive said IDK if its me or Ive reached the limits of my 40D especially in low light fast action sports
Ive seen people take very sharp pictures with theirs

I guess I dont take failing well
I know they all wont be great

but Im on the low end of actual keepers
prob 99% of my stuff a real pro wouldnt keep

I really appreciate the comments and I hope I help

big question is

Am I doing all I can with my 40D?
Ive put 100k on her and really I still dont know
there are so many settings
so many different lighting venues
I cant seem to get a handle on any
I know there are a lot of variables

Grand Pa bought them because it was a pic of his grandson
nothing more nothing less
and I am very grateful to him

but I would like for people to buy because of the quality
not because they dont have a pic of their kid

Yes I know a sale is a sale and I shouldnt complain

but my competitive nature takes over and I expect more of myself and my equipment

I know my 40d isnt a pro quality camera
and I am not a pro quality shooter or post processor

I watch vids on my camera, on LR and am reading a book on LR
so much is greek to me to be honest

I dont understand a lot of it

I can whip up a 300 page defensive playbook or game plan offense for a whole season with no problem

but I cant take pictures with an advanced camera

Yeah I know I coached a lot longer
but its not like I just started

I really appreciate that you think I contribute to this wonderful forum
I really do

I need to sit down with someone who knows what they are doing
like going over to a coach buddies house and breaking down film

thats easy

right now I dont have the time or money to go to expos clinics or whatever they are called
Im trying to buy another camera a 1D mark III or a 7D

but I agree with those who have said learn the equipment you have before you move on
I dont feel I know enough about my 40d to do that yet

Its technique that I dont have yet

I appologise to all that read this
you have better things to do on this site
like learn photography

again Rob thanks I appreciate it
also to elray, FP, Polish guy, Matty, the girl in the Netherlands, the Tuppers ect who have tried to help
I appreciate your time and effort
it means a lot to me

end of rant
back to your regularly scheduled programming

thanks to all of you
