Not feeling the concept...I think if it were in a setting that was distressed and dilapidated it would fit in more? This simply is a head on a table? i would also take advantage of those eyes that blink. I find it way more realistically disturbing if one feels they are being stared at:shock:
I get what you are trying for, but this one misses the mark for me anyways. Again, just me and what I see in this photo.

My impression was also to some extend in the same line though not as much.
- I would suggest a better set up, say foreground that merges with back ground.
- A better crop or wider view.
- Add a monotonous color mood (May be a dark shade of sepia) or grain.
- Play with light could be very fulfilling. Just try more and see if you like any better.
