been trying to decide between the 15-85 and the Sigma 17-50 2.8. I have decided that I dont need a constant aperture and since I am only looking to replace my 18-135 kit lens that has seen better days. this will be my new birthday purchase.

This lens will replace my 18-135 kit lens and complement my 70-300 Tamron that I use when shooting races etc from the stands. I actually exported my usage from lightroom for the 18-135 and this lens sits right in the middle of what I shoot normally. :)

If you don't need to stop motion (F2.8) then this is Canon's best EF-S zoom. IS is stellar and IQ is as good as you can find in EF-S lineup. Enjoy!

Couple of shots taken last year in Istanbul. The 15-85 was my main walkabout lens. I used to use an 18-135, and a 10-20 sigma, but since changing to the 15-85 I rarely use my sigma 10-20 any more. In fact on the Istanbul trip I only used it twice on interior shots, 15mm was wide enough for virtually everything I needed. I barely noticed the drop from 135 to 85 - except the quality difference of course - the 15-85 being streets ahead of the 18-135.
