Did you try sharpening in DPP?

I took picture with 7, -2, 0 , 0 options. Kept the default unsharp mask option while converting. I noticed very little blur with changing unsharp mask to sharpness in dpp.

I'm surprised that there is no evidence of over-sharpening. If the camera's sharpness setting of 7 was maintained by DPP when PPing, I would expect to see some halos, but I do not. Was this a RAW shot or did the camera capture it as a .JPG?

Keep in mind that Flickr downsizes your T3i photos from the native 5184 X 3456 resolution to a MAXIMUM of 2048 X 1365. This downsizing will soften your images. In order to combat this softening, I recommend the following:
1) Shoot with camera sharpness set at zero.
2) After you have finished doing your editing in DPP, do a 'Convert and Save' to .JPG in DPP at Quality = 7, and RE-SIZE your photos to 2048 X 1365. This will avoid the softening by re-sizing that happens when you upload to Flickr.
3) Open the down-sized .JPG in DPP and sharpen to taste under the 'RGB' tab.
4) Do a second 'Convert and Save' at Quality = 9.
5) Upload to Flickr. Done.

I agree with what another poster said that your child's left eye appears to be in acceptably sharp focus.

Just got this lens for a few days with the BuyDig deal. Still deciding if I should send it to Sigma for calibration. Sometimes it looks soft

Hey! Still loving this lens. Here's a quick wide open shot, with a bounced flash triggered remotely, coming from the left, mixed with some nice window light.

I am editing some photos from an event I shot, at 1/15-/50th 2.8 800-1600. This thing in post shines at 2.8

Did you try sharpening in DPP?

Here is a great example using the 30mm and DPP. Please shoot in RAW. This shot would have otherwise been ruined because it was out of waaaay focus. DPP and Monochromatic made it sharp like a MOFO.

Give me a sec. I am really not supposed to post them online, but I can sneak one out for "research purposes" If they seem warm it is the ambient lighting in the sanctuary has CTO gels on the house lights...why I have NO IDEA!

How do you figure that "Monochromatic" helped sharpness? This is the first time that I've seen this.

What sharpening settings in DPP did you use? And did you use "Sharpness" or "USM"?

Thanks for the examples!

Yogi
