Welp After wanting this lense for quite sometime and reading this thread I finally got me a new 100-400 in the mail Thursday and tested it out last evening and this morning.

all these bolted on my 7D, its true on keeping the shutterspeed up! I think its pretty sharp shot most of my shots at 400mm to get a feel for it. still got some work to do with it to get the most out of it.

here's 7
1.

Great shots of the red winged blackbirds!

Here is a shot of Mt. Hood from the deck of my condo. Lovely day in the PNW!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Looks like a good first outing Cap. I hope I have a good first outing with my new 100-400 in the kayak soon.

The first outing was actually the zoo and produced some keepers but that was a test run. ;)

Nice shot! Somebody should tell the jumper in white that his mouth guard belongs in well, his mouth...

Thanks michgirl. I have to admit that seeing the photo and comparing it to the real thing, I am happy to have captured half of its beauty.

Like the landscape and the colors. How far away from the building and what was your focus point in order to get full DoF at f/6.3? I'm struggling with DoF at 100mm right now.
