@Scott -- he's not a write for the paper, he took over the "footie" (as Harm would put it) content on the website. According to his brother (an aspiring photog) he can get creds through it.. that said, I dont' really know about the whole arrangement.

As for getting DSLR gear into a concert, I completely understand that since most shoot HD video fairly easily. It's more the artist/label though than the venue.

Well I'd be very surprised. Globe has season passes for their photogs that have photos on them of each photog...and I would image there would be a big tussle if a staffer was told "nope we have a friend of the writer shooting tonight"...but you never know, you could get lucky!

I broke down and got the HoldFast Moneymaker in mahogany bison.

Damn you Nathan! I forgot about that when it was announced. Didn't like the leather, but then saw the bison.... that's my style, i think it'll wear in nicely. (As long as we are on a material subject, I'm a Cole Haan guy myself....)

yeah, I'm not really planning on trying to get credentials this way personally. My buddy's brother seems to think he's suddenly a sports shooter..

Good news: Got a call from the Brockton detective. They think they're close to catching him.

Bad news: I told my girlfriend what happened. I'm forbidden from using Craigslist again. Guess my days of upgrading are over. :(

riles that's great news. i like to buy new with camera equipment. too many variables with the used stuff. and it doesn't depreciate too badly, so even if i take a loss, it's not a huge one. the negative equity in most if not all lenses is still much cheaper than renting that same lens for a given amount of time.

going to baxter state park in june to camp for maybe 7-10 days. being im a relative noob to dslr's, and i am going backcountry camping (zero amenities), access to electricity will only be available through my car. what i first figured on doing is buying a car charger for the lp-e8 batteries...but with the amount of hiking (1 mile each way to and from the site) and the length of time it'll take to charge...i figured id buy perhaps 8 or 10 lp-e8's to go along with the 3 i already have...that should last me the week i'd think.

any other alternatives im overlooking? the grip came with a AA battery carrier...how long do they last? any experience?

not sure about lp-e8, but I know lp-e6 is rated for ~850 shots. Do you plan on taking thousands of photos during the trip?
