My thoughts are this...I ordered my first copy of this lens for myself, which is still in order verification stage. As I said, I ordered a second which was voided not long after I placed the order. If they were cancelling, I assume the first one would have been voided first...the voided order has recently been cleared from my history while my original order is still pending...I might just have a terrible case of wishful thinking but for once, I would like to come out on top.

Although I have no geat love for Corporate America, I have to agree in this case. I've been doing business with Newegg for many years on the computer end. Prices are very competitive, shipping is insanely fast, and customer service has been top rate. I would not take advantage of them. I seriously doubt they will honor a mistake of this magnitude.

I buy virtually all my pc equipment from Newegg and I think very highly of them as a retailer. And while I loath Wal-Mart, the thought would never cross my mind to take advantage of either company like some of the fast buyers on this forum.

I will now get down off my soapbox and walk out of this particular section of the forum. I will however look back at the members posting in this thread the next time I look in the "Marketplace" section and see who's crying about a retailer ripping them off.

Who says this wasn't an intentional move by them in order to gain some publicity?? I personally do not know many, if any at all, who buy from them. If they do in fact ship this lens to me, I will certainly look to them in the future. They might just chalk these loses up to their advertising budget for all we know.

Newegg is a pretty major retailer actually. They don't specialize in cameras though, which may be why you're not familiar with them. They certainly don't need to have a publicity stunt. Besides, this lens wasn't sold by them. It was sold by 17th St Photo via the Newegg Marketplace.

even if they don't sell the lens to you...you've heard of them now...so no need to give you a lens that is clearly a typo, and that you knew the chances of you actually receiving it were slim to none...

maybe they just wanted a bunch of new email addresses :)

So you bought something from a retailer that you apparently know nothing about? And I suppose you also have never heard of the "If something that appears to good to be true...." line? And do you really believe it could have been an intentional move to stimulate business by a online retailer the size of Newegg?

You know what, ZZYZXXXX, I am going to do you and only you a favor by being so honest and sell you my 135L for $300. PM me and I will give you one of my Paypal accounts. Please make it a "Gift" payment cause if I trust you, you should be able to trust me.;)

I agree with others that Newegg is a great retailer to do business with. I've had nothing but positive experiences with them and I wouldn't knowingly try to rip them off. Having said that, I probably would have jumped on that deal if I knew about it. Like others have said, maybe its a promtional thing?

I HAVE purchase before, but very little. I am am Amazon guy. I also knew of them when they were a brick and mortar store, so I have known of them for years. They already had my Email and have been sending me their Emails for years.

I appreciate your offer Thorrulz, but I have no desire for a 135L. My next L purchase might be a 600. A few months back I bought the 70-200 2.8, hopefully now I will have the lens in question, then I can flip my 28-135 kit lens or give it to one of my friends.

I got this email from NEWEGG.COM

"Thank you for shopping at Newegg.com.

We are pleased to inform you that your order (Sales Order Number: 173916563) has been successfully authorized and order verification is now complete.

Please allow 1 - 3 business days for your order to be processed and shipped.

Thank you once again for shopping at Newegg.com!

If you have any questions, please visit our Contact Us Page.

Once You Know, You Newegg.

Your Newegg.com Customer Service Team "

Yeah, I got this email, too.

However, if you check the status of your order on the NewEgg website, you may find that it is still in the Order Verification stage. Mine is.

Also, the charge to my credit card has been in the "processing" stage for some time. It has not cleared, nor has it been reversed.

LOL! The anticipation is killing me. I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve, it's rather sad really.

Santa's not real, so unless your parents bought the lens for you, I'd sleep in tomorrow. :p
