Home for spring break hanging out with the old gang in the Walmart parking lot brings back memories.

I went up to the USS New Jersey ship museum this weekend, and despite screwing with my WB shift and forgetting to reset to neutral, got a bunch of decent shots - thank goodness for raw, and DxO. Here are a few interiors that show some of the no-flash low light capability.

Inside a 5-inch gun turret:

Nice. I like the WB on these.

I believe the sensors in the two are very similar - IQ between them is pretty much indistinguishable, with the 6D only pulling slightly ahead at very high ISO, from what I've read.

trying out some full tank shots of my frog tank. I don't know if this camera produces images with a much better dynamic range than my 40D or if I'm just getting better at editing them, but these turned out way better than I could achieve before I upgraded.

Hi all,

I will probably pull the trigger on the 6D and 24-105 f4L. I was wondering about SD cards and haven't been able to find information regarding the speed.

I have a couple of Classe 4 15MB/s cards but I think they will be very slow. I shoot RAW and rarely use continuous drive (but I'd like to be able to do so for a dozen of shots in a row).

Would a class 10 30MB/s or 45MB/s be ok for my use?

Thanks for your input,

jeremietard

I have a few SanDisk 16GB class 10 45MB/s and they keep up with it.

Thanks! Good news I won't need to buy a more expensive 95MB/s

Just a quick note to 6D users. I have been disappointed with the buffer in my 6D when I was shooting birds in continuous mode. I was using a 30MB/s SanDisk Ultra SD card. The buffer would fill at about 17 shots and then freeze. I could maybe squeeze off another shot after 5 or more seconds. The buffer took 35 long seconds to clear completely. I was bummed because I really wanted to be able to use this camera for birding and motor sports. I did some reading about SD card speeds and how they can affect camera buffer write speed, but all I found were conflicting anecdotes about how effective that is or I found really old test data.

So I bought a SanDisk 32GB UHS-I (95MB/s) card to test for myself. The difference is astounding. With the new 95MB/s card, it runs to 25 images before slowing to about 1 FPS (maybe a bit slower). But it keeps on shooting. The buffer clears completely in less than 10 seconds. I'd call that a significant difference. I'm psyched because this means I can use this body for birding and motor sports after all.

Here it is :)

What kind of PP did you do on these? I really like them but my eyes keep fooling me to think there is a slight ghosting around the bike and rider making it look almost 3d, very cool shots!
