What model? The interior specs list 9" and the 2.8 IS is a little over 9". I've been thinking about getting the 1654 which lists an interior of 10.5" depth inside which i think would allow everything to stand on end.
Here is a great use of space in a decently portable case. Its easy enough to even carry. This is a 1560 with the following items in it (starting at top left)IMAGE LINK: http://www.flickr.com …/56709879@N07/7167945164/ IMG_7270
Row 1: 5D Mark II (Gripped would fit too in the same space), Vagabond Mini, Einstein strobe
Row 2: Canon 70-200 2.8L IS II, 2 CSXCV Receivers, Battery charger, 2 CST Transmitters, Cyber Commander
Row 3: Sigma 50 1.4, YN560, 580 EXII, Yn560.
As you can see, LOTS of space left. For those wondering how the upright lens fits, if you remove the lid padding, the case shuts without any pressure. With the lid padding (I do keep it in) the lid has to be pressed gently but Ive never been worried about anything crushing or breaking. If I were paranoid, I might remove a tiny bit of the lid padding in that area, but again, it doesnt bother me. Ive since added a 24-70 beside the speedlights, 85 1.8 under the 50, and a few more small bits in the remaining area.
