Scott, a killer shot would be to have each family member looking through an individual window of the helicopter.... great coverage so far man!

Scott - Are what people wearing what have been donated to him as part of disaster recovery? Just curious. Glad to see that donations and such make it into their hands and families.

Not long after college, I was still wearing pajama bottoms to the grocery store. I'd do it today, but I can't say when the last time I did that was. My wife wouldn't like me doing it. Oh, but quick runs to CVS... certainly do it pretty often, still.

Not sure, reselling clothes from USA is a huge business here. You see people wearing like McDonald's shirts (there is no fastfood here) USPS shirts...UPS uniforms..even scrubs from hospitals...not sure if it's donated clothes or not..most people are well dressed and some people only have one pair of clothes...

I wear PJ's out every now and then :)

So i ran the EOSInfo count application and my old 5DMKII is reading 134k images on it. While i don't doubt it has at least 70-80k on it, i can't believe the second camera has 134k images on it. Has anyone ever heard of these apps not reporting accurate data?

so im kind of stuck now...here's my choice...buying tomorrow.

190xprob/496rc2 $186
055xprob/498rc2 $240

worth the extra 54 bucks? is the added stability worth the weight gain in the 055?

I've had that happen, but not that big of a difference. Best bet is to have Canon take a look.

Anyways, last pic for now - same camp as the helicopters, it's called Sous Piste

Does the 190 do the center column trick where you can open the legs out pretty much so that the center column (if raised up and slid out) is only a few inches off the floor? I've used that trick to set my tripod up in tough spots and move the camera over to have a shot on my 055XproB (notably at the Pru - easy to sneak a tripod in a corner that way).

The likelihood of stressing that combo to the point where you'd need to upgrade is unlikely. Probably a smart choice.

The exact same decision I made for the same reason when I had my Manfotto?

Put the grand towards a lens that you can stick on the Manfrotto. That setup met most of my needs, it was just too big for me when traveling. That is why I switched to the Benro travel angel which met all my needs, including price.

About a week ago, I saw a grown woman walking to work with one of those fluffy animal hats with the ears and all. Was strange especially considering the fact that she had a pants suit on. People are just weird.

I don't shoot with a tripod often enough to justify replacing the tripod I had at our last meet... the one that started dropping nuts and bolts on the floor at S. Station.

I'll look into that Benro travel tripod that was linked earlier. I have a balance of $800 on Bill Me Later to clear up... I love that service. Making purchases never makes a big dent in my wallet, unless I buy something off of POTN.

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.
