I practiced PP on this photo. I finally begin to think 7D can take good photo...

Just what did you do in PP on this? There's some kind of strange white halo around the front part of the body and head? Oversharpened, maybe? Or composite the bird onto the tree branch background?


Gripped 7D, gripped, full-spectrum modfied T1i (500D), SX50HS, A2E film body, Tamzooka (150-600), Tamron 90mm/2.8 VC (ver 2), Tamron 18-270 VC, Canon FD 100 f/4.0 macro, Canon 24-105 f/4L,Canon EF 200 f/2.8LII, Canon 85 f/1.8, Tamron Adaptall 2 90mmf/2.5 Macro, Tokina 11-16, Canon EX-430 flash, Vivitar DF-383 flash, Astro-Tech AT6RC and Celestron NexStar 102 GT telescopes, various other semi-crappy manual lenses and stuff.

Thank you guys andarcher, I am not sure what's the while halo you are talking about. What I did is two step procedure: 1. remove most of the noise and increase saturation, convert to jpg. 2. sharpen the photo, but not that much. If you see halo, I think the bird carried that :)

I see what looks like a very narrow (1 or 2 pixels, maybe) white strip around the front of the bird's body, from about its forehead down to about the bottom of its chest. It might be from the sharpening, especially if you did it in the .jpg rather than the raw.

I see. I'll upload a direct crop from rc2 file and the intermediate jpg file tonight. We'll see better where does this come from.
