This is my favorite of your recent posts of this little dude. This is a great shot! I really like the color temp. A little cooler to match the eyes and blanket. Nice job! I am really enjoying this thread. This lens kills it at 1.6!

I was so excited to get this, was about to sell my 24-105L and my 35/2 to get it, but after shooting with the L for the weekend I've decided it's just too nifty... I'll have to save up and wait a little while to get this gem.

I dunno about that, but I appreciate the compliment. ;) There are so many incredible images in this thread. Care to explain what it is you like about this image in particular so much?

I like how colours aren't over saturated and everything seems very softly lit. Good capture. Also, she seems absorbed by her craft, the whole moment tells a story... sometimes we are so convoluted by bokeh, sharpness and colour rendition that we forget what photography is truly about.

Will this lens be good on a 60d in terms of length? I'm new to photography and currently have a 17-55 from Canon with the 50mm 1.8. Should I use those tools to learn first or get as well this lens?

The two lenses you have should be enough for you to get going and enjoy the craft. Once you get deeper into it you would understand your future needs better. For instance, you may decide that you need a longer lens first (think 85mm or 100mm macro), rather than a second prime within the range already covered by your reasonably good walk around zoom. 35mm on 60d is good, but hold on to the idea and shoot with what you have.

Very interesting and sharp pictures, but I have a feeling that your family would have been happier if you didn't get this close to them with a 35mm in your hands ;)

By the way, I am still waiting for Sigma's Indian distributor to decide on the price for this lens. He is trying to hike the prices by 30% even before they start to ship! They had initially fixed a price for Sigma 35mm which was much lower than the Canon EF35mm f/2 IS, now they want to match the Canon :(
Canon releases products quickly in India, but the prices have gone up 70% in 18 months! While, Sigma may loose customers due to the delay in availability.
