Yeah, it was scary two weeks later when I showed her the photos and she had no recollection of it. There were no symptoms day-of (pupils, memory, balance, etc.). Brain injuries are weird, and scary.

A shoulder to the cheek definitely isn't going to feel great...

Google "second impact syndrome" and you'll really be scared that you let her continue to play.
ANY signs of concussion warrant immediate removal from play and a step-wise return to activity and close monitoring. There is no such thing as a "mild concussion" when dealing with youth sports, they're all serious.
Glad she's OK.

I appreciate it. I am familiar with 2nd impact syndrome, and took myself off the bike for 6 weeks after a concussion. We checked pupils with a light, balance, long and short term memory, etc. and had no signs that anything happened. There honestly were no signs of concussion after the fall, until she didn't remember it weeks later. There's always the possibility that it wasn't a big deal to her too, as she's extremely tough.

Being a soccer referee and having played the sport for many years (ok, decades) I'll bet it was as you said, not a big deal to her. Sometimes collisions look MUCH worse than they really are. And when playing, the adrenaline can mask an injury too. As a coach, I always pulled a kid who hit his head on anything.

I broke my ring finger playing indoor and I don't remember it at all. I ran into the wall a few times during the match, it always happens. I couldn't tell you when I did it, but after the game I noticed my finger was swollen pretty bad. Three hours later it began hurting, had swollen even more. I had broken the middle bone in half lengthwise. Doctor couldn't believe I didn't remember it happening.

I use Canon gear...have several bodies and lenses and am quite pleased with them.
