I just got this camera as a 40th Birthday present. I am not planning on getting rid of the DSLRs, but I get rid of the P&S.

To be exact $299 with 14-42mm so that's why I discount $80 for the lens :).

Bought it back in November, hardly used the 550D since but not getting rid of my Canon gear, will probably add the 6D later in the year.

I dropped my sis in law (middle) off at her graduation ball and decided to get a few shots of her and her friends. The previous day I was shooting in low light and forgot to change the ISO for this quick shoot

All shots with 45mm f1.8.

I still really want this camera.

not sure if I should wait for something "newer" or just get E-M5

I'd also consider the Panasonic GH3. Same sensor (or so it would appear), but much better ergonomics, better battery life, electronic shutter etc.

Tough call for sure. I bought into the hype that a newer version was coming and sold mine in the fall. I really miss it. Now that they are down to around $700 body only used, it is making me want to pick one up again. That said, as much as I liked the EM-5, I just know there were a few things that bothered me I am really hoping they fix with the next version.

Terrible (terrriiiibbbblllleeee) battery life, bad tracking AF since I enjoy birding, continuous AF not available at 8FPS, a lack of exceptional telephoto options (birding again), and the rumor that the next version of the camera would be able to take full advantage of the capabilities of the existing pro-level 4/3rds lenses such as their 150mm F2 prime and 90-250mm F2.8 zoom.

I will concur re the battery life. Compensated with the grip and a second battery.
