I'm only rude when I realy have to get the shot and people are in the way. Usually that would mean being rude to your colleauges and other shooters. But nah I try and be as nice as possible all the time. Sure you might elbow someone but then you say you are sorry.

Alot of amateurs do have huge egos and produce ****. Alot of pros have huge egos and produce good stuff. I like neither. It's personality I suppose.

Lots of old stuff but hey I am a student
Photojournalist in Johannesburg.

So many people want to believe they are special and the universe revolves around them. You see it everywhere. The people at subway who expect to get tips for doing their job. The project manager who believes his project is more important than anything. The guy who cuts out off in traffic. The photographer who will yell at you for jogging on a trail in the park which is between him and his subject. It doesn't really matter, the world is full of self centered *******s and part of being happy in life is learning to ignore them.

"Hey You! You're in the way!"

is faster to say than...

"Excuse me kind sir, but I would like to inform you that you are standing in the line of sight of the subject that I am trying to photograph. Would it be okay to scoot over a little bit so I may take my shot? Thank you and may you prosper from thousand virgins sent from the heavens!"

if you are, say, shooting Formula Drift and some kid with an iphone walks right in front of you as the driver you were commissioned to shoot slides by. In some venues and situations, other fellow photographers understand this since they are working against time and at the end of the day, we meet at the media tent and take crown royal shots all night. Only the newbies and sensitive people get butthurt about it.

Reminds me of the Quaker who discovers a burglar stealing his silver. He turns on the light, looks right at the startled burglar, and says, "Friend, I would not harm a hair on thy head for the world, but thou standests where I am about to shoot!"

It's because they have ego issues since most people think it's the camera that takes the pics ;)

Because anyone who has a cell phone in his or her pocket can be labeled as "Photographer" This includes most of human race...

You can also say any other "Adjective" you like, that should fit very well the same population sample and probably your statement is not wrong!!

One more thing... no one has mentioned.
Most, not all, photogs are loners and not the best in social situations.

I have it on good authority that a white lens or a black w/ red ring lens can not take a bad photo. In fact, I hear just having one will get you laid!

Why are photographers rude and arrogant?

Because of the difference between a pizza and a photographer.

A pizza can feed a family of four.

^^^ Now I am confused!
Do you suggest that a Photographer alone eats pizza of four families?
