here's a video with some initial impressions:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfWUJclIi3I (external link)

now, bear in mind I just wrapped up an EVIL review a few weeks ago. I had my EPM2, a borrowed X100, a borrowed NEX5r and a GX1. The oly won technically but I fell in love with the X100 because the X100s had been announced so I was ignoring it's AF issues. But now with the X100s the AF is NOT as good as the OMD which I'd hoped. It's much better but it still struggles in low light, especially in the <3' range. You do NOT need to mess with the macro setting for normal shooting anymore so that's great. But yeah, it's not oly fast AF wise and you will get red boxed from time to time. Is it much better? Yes. Is it as good as the 1 year old olympus OMD? Unfortunately no. But the IQ and everything else is pretty damned good so I think I'm still sticking with it.

Ben, what firmware version do you have? Reading on a Fuji forum, there are some concerns that the AF speed is slower with 1.01 than it is with 1.0. http://www.fujix-forum.com …-101-is-slower-than-x100/ (external link)

Thanks for posting your thoughts. Can't wait to give mine a go when it comes in.

yeah, ,I was just reading that. No way is it slower but that's encouraging they think there's an issue and a potential easy fix...

here's my first processed shot:

Am I the first person to shoot an NBA game with the X100s?

Nice shots! Quite the endorsement for the 100s. Considering your gear list it just goes to show that the photographer makes the image not the camera. Why lug 10 lbs of equipment around if you don't have to?

Color! Very nice. I have never used the original X100, so it was nice to see what to expect for AF speed based on your video.

You might be! Nice shots. It's a shame we couldn't have played a bit better.

I don't have any pics to post up yet but I've just been playing around and I'm really impressed with the camera. It is very fast in good light and decent in low light. MF is much improved and really fun to use. I think I will be using MF with this thing most of the time. I bought a Thumbs Up grip today and it improves the ergonomics a ton. I agree that the lens cap is crap. I am going to order a new one Amazon. The colors that the JPEGS produce are pretty awesome. I love how compact this thing is compared to lugging around a DSLR.

Pics to follow soon once I take some of something besides my cat or random things in my front yard.

I bought the EP2S. I talked to the match technical guys and they said the EP5S was discontinued and they worked directly with Fuji on the EP2S.

Buy it from Pop Flash though. It's a bit cheaper and ships from Southern CA. I got the black one.

If anyone is looking for an X100S, keep an eye on ebay. Kenmore Camera out of Washington just had 2 on ebay ($1299), both sold in a matter of minutes. And a few days ago on ebay Cameraland (east coast) had a few for $1299.

Just keep checking like every 30 minutes... or less.
