Hi. I had a fruitful visit into the city centre this morning. I had this sort of shot in mind, really pleased with my first effort at this type of photo, shutter speed 1/13, hope you like...

Hoping to receive my 60D today (if the tracking updates are correct) - any tips or tricks I should know about for this camera ? I definitely will read the manual.

My other main camera is the 7D.

I'm mainly here for the snacks

This photo would have been better if you had waited for the person to cross the white patch on the wall a few feet ahead of him. His dark form in front of the light square would provide a very nice effect. Think of this photo as having two subjects. If one were to squint while viewing the photo, one would see both the person and the light square. Ultimately, the light square would frame the person.

I have noticed this on many street shots with cars or signs in the frame. A white car often inadvertently becomes the subject, as it draws the eye to it. Same with the square here.

Thanks for the comments, always welcome. I had been on the look out for a suitable wall all morning, on stumbling across this one I convinced myself it was ok, despite looking at the white patch a few times. I have got a few of people walking through the white patch but I wanted them walking up hill, and walking into the frame.

Now you point out the patch it stands out like a sore thumb!! Watch this space, I now have a challenge to find a better wall!! Thanks again...

Well, I really liked the shot. If I were over there I'd be camped out right where you were! Someone, dressed in a little darker attire, will happen by.

The flash photos are fine. The non-flash photos may need a little help with the white balance. You can get a calibrated target and set a custom white balance, or you can get a white sheet of paper and do the same (may not be as accurate, but is cheap...).

I like the action style, well done! :D

It looks pretty good. You avoided the extremes a lot of people do when starting.:D
