I used to think BIF was the ultimate birding photography. But really it is the easiest by a long way. Birds in the bush and small birds are much more of a challenge IMO.

This guy is chowing down on a mouse in mid air... LOL

Thanks!! First Barn Owl I was ever able to photograph.

Now you are hooked... :)

Keep at it, there are always around somewhere. But in my case they never turn up. :(

This is from 2009 when I first started really getting into photography an bought my first "real" camera. Rebel XT! Golden Eagle chasing an Osprey trying to get him to drop his fish, which I guess is a pretty common game they play at Walton Lake, Or.

Fantastic shots everyone. I still have a long way to go to shoot anything comparible.

This is the first decent shot of a hawk in flight I've taken. Usually they are too high, the light is wrong or they are flying away from me.

Spotted Owl Survey Season Again

I took my nephew out on an owl survey with me last weekend and we managed to find a hungry one.

3. Really wish I hadn't clipped the wings on this one, focus could've been a little better too. Kinda cool to see the nictitating membranes though (and they kept the red-eye at bay too):

4. Okay, not in flight but it came out okay and goes with the set. I didn't have a tripod out there with me, fortunately there was a small douglas fir with a few well-placed branches. Thinking of cloning out some of the moss by the bird's head, any thoughts?

C+C welcome and appreciated, thanks for looking,

Nate.

“It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.”

I hunted this guy (gal?) up and down the beach for about an hour and a half this morning. He never let me get close, and then decided to fly practically right over me.

Like the shot, but it looks like you need to clean the lens or the sensor.
