My 17-40 is sharp as a tack. Great L for the money.

Same here.

When I was buying mine I poured through all the reviews. It looks to me like the 17-40 went through a bit of a rough patch at one point in the past (maybe production / QA issues) which may explain some of the reviews but it's a great lens for the money at the moment.

Those are great; love the processing too!

That first one brought back fond memories of my old mini for a second, then I remembered all the hassle with constantly seizing brake adjusting nuts, the the rust-loving subframe etc. etc. :)

Good to know. I'm in the market for one. But maybe now I'll consider buying new.

Yep that was my feeling. I've bought two used lenses so far and both have been great, but I bought my 17-40 new. For extra confidence I got it from Amazon for the great returns policy, but the first one I got was most definitely a keeper!

Wow. It's amazing how much cleaner the bokeh is on the 50/1.4 and full frame vs. what I used to shoot my 50mm 1.4 with, the 60D. So glad I went full frame!
