Just pulled the trigger. Should be arriving in a couple of days.
Was thinking about a used Canon 85 1.8, but this thread helped sell the Samyang to me.. as did this comparison:
http://www.the-digital-picture.com …omp=0&FLIComp=0&APIComp=1 (external link)

Image quality is most important to me. I hope I'll be able to deal with manual focus. Are any of you folks using Live View to focus? I know it doesn't feel quite like the viewfinder, but focussing seems to be very accurate with Live View.

I'm using live view all day 24/7 this lens is a cream machine if you can't tell all ready from the pics I posted if you don't mind manual focus this lens is a steal the IQ is amazing wide open trust me you will not regret the purchase...

If your camera supports the Magic Lantern FW then I suggest you grab it for the focus peaking in live view. Very useful.

^The 30D is practically the same camera as the 20D, so I don't see how it'd be any different than your old experience... other than the fact that this lens has a much narrower DOF, thus making it more difficult. Have you looked into manual focus screens for your 30D?

^I'm not sure which screen would be better for you, I haven't bought one (yet) for my camera but I'll be getting a focus confirm adapter this week so I'll let you know how that works out ;)

gridded focusing screens will do nothing for focus accuracy: the gridlines are there for composition, framing, and level horizons.
