Nice shot. But what firmware version are you running?

I already hate this stupid lens cap.

yeah, swap it for either the fuji lenscap (or a knockoff) or I'm using the filter rind adapter and a step down ring that takes it from 49 to 37 (I think) so I don't need one. This way I can stick the camera in my pocket and nothing can touch the front element, it's too far in a small enough hole. My lenscap just sits on my desk.

I've also got the lensmate thumbsup grip. I went for it because it's $50 and it covers the EV dial a bit so I can't knock it. I had issues with that with the X100 and the X100s has a stiffer dial but why not? The one above does look like it's in a better spot above the jog dial though....

I hate that Fuji designed this to look like a RF. If I want to carry camera that looks like one, it may as well be one. Aesthetically, I choose my M3 over this any day. That said, I'm very interested in what this camera is capable of and may end up buying one when they are more readily available. Thinking about replacing my 5D2 with this (though I will probably end up keeping both).

I like that it does look like a RF. But I wish Fuji would have also released an all black version like the XE1 and X20. An all black version w/o it being a more expensive special edition.

I mean, I like the way RFs look. I love my M3. I just hate that the x100(s) tries to look like one. Won't stop me from getting one, though haha. Been searching local stores all day with no luck. Hoping to get one by summer.

I got mine on EBAY from Kenmore Camera in Washington. (external link)

I had been obsessively checking very frequently and they had only two. By the time I paid for mine, the other had been sold. Before that, Cameraland on EBAY had two which I watched sell right before my eyes. I messaged them afterwards and they said they would have more in a few days. Yesterday they had 12 on EBAY which sold fast. (external link) Long story short, I'd keep an eye on EBAY if I was you. Plus you can get EBAY Bucks back on your purchase.

But after Passover, I wouldn't be surprised if shops like BH and Ado got a bunch in.

I'm banking on B&H and Adorama shipping a bunch out when they open back up. I hope so anyway since I have my preorder in with Adorama.

I'm in no rush, but if they have it in stock, I will be ordering one. If not, I won't die. Just got a Hassie last week that will keep me busy. :D

im actually glad that they went for a RF look, if it looked like any of the mirrorless cameras, i would have never cared for it. the OVF is the main reason why ultimately i went with fuji. i had a nex7 before and it lasted only 4weeks for me.
also M3 vs x100s, two totally different cameras, one is film and one is digital.
one has metering one does not, AF vsMF and so on
i have a M6 and x100s too, which one i bring with me depends on what im shooting and what i feel like using.

tried doing some landscape with the x100s and slowly realizing its not its forte due to
-cable shutter release
-clunky long exposure mode
-EVF/MF mode when shooting with filters

but still doable, will have to take couple more shots to give a proper opinion

Thanks for the reminder.

As for aesthetics, different strokes for different folks. I just think looking like something it's not is cheesy. Retro is very in right now, and Fuji is taking advantage of that. Guess I can't blame them. They are in the business of selling, after all. Would have appreciate a more unique or original design, though.

Anyway, enough of my ranting. :)

Haven't used the x100s yet, but in the x100, I really appreciated the single purpose tactile controls.
Since the digital era, most if not all compact cameras have been moving towards more complex button layouts where every button serves a multitude of purposes. I like having dedicated shutterspeed and EC dials as well as an aperture ring. It really helps the shooting experience for me, and takes my attention away from the camera UI, leaving more room for composition.

To me, there's two aspects to "retro":
- styling in real or faux-retro materials.
- realizing the designers back in the day had some stuff right and going back to that.

What I like about the x100s (as well as the x100) is that they got the latter right, while the former doesn't get in the way of it being a modern camera.
It supports a more modern way of shooting, with AF, different metering / white balance options etc, but you can still use it in a very manual way.

There's what appears to be a "to good to be true" deal for an open box X100S on Ebay right now. BIN $1320
http://cgi.ebay.com …iewItem&item=261193794608 (external link)

--- Supposedly comes with lens shade, Think Tank Urban Disguise camera bag, cable release, extra battery, extra charger, 3 year Mack warranty, external flash(?), RRS L Bracket(?).

Odd description. But check out where it says "bundled Items."

User has 913 100% positive feedbacks

I messaged the seller to verify that all these items are actually included, and which brand battery, which model TT bag, etc. But I have not heard back yet. I asked the seller only about 20 minutes ago.
