I was just wondering which lens you use for doing shoots with children (on the move age!)
I have my 50mm 1.4 which I absolutely love but would like a zoom lens.
I like doing location shoots so a zoom would be good, any recommendations?

Thanks!

I use my 24-70L a ton. It is my main lens for sessions with children. that 12-24 months range is tough! If the 24-70L is out of your price range you might want to look at the Tamron 17-50 2.8 it is really nice also.

Good luck

If you still have your 500D, the two best everyday zoom lenses are the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 and the EF-S 15-85mm (this one doesn't have a fixed aperture but changes as you zoom the lens in and out).

I have the 15-85 because I do mostly outdoor photography and have a flash for indoor stuff.

Here is the Canon site for all the lenses they sell: http://www.usa.canon.com …ts/cameras/ef_lens_lineup (external link)

90% of my outdoor kid shots are with the 70-200. It allows you to be away from the children and not influence their actions.

the 70-200 would be great for outdoor shoots. It would allow you to be further from the children so you get more natural shots. I'm still saving up for that one ;) I use my 50mm 1.4 for just about everything.

My 24-70 and 35 are probably my most used lenses for photographing my kids. But I try to regularly swop lenses just for variety's sake, otherwise the first 10K shots will all look just like the next 10K shots. I will play with ultra-wides for the distortion, fast primes for the extreme bokeh, tele for compression.

50mm 1.2 would be my favourite to use when shooting people in general.

Same here. I have 3 kids (3yr old twins and a 7yr old). They don't stop for more than a second, so a zoom is very helpful for me. I think want to use primes every now and then, but I know I will miss some shots with them.
