I am new to photography and recently purchased a Tamron 70-300mm VC USD lens. Please tell me if I got a good copy of the lens. Picture taken by Canon T4i.

f/9 1/640 ISO-400 Aperture mode

They do look soft but it is hard to tell where you focussed etc. Did you use AI-Servo or one shot or manual focus. The 1/80 shot should probably not be the one to judge your lens by as it prob should be used handheld with a faster shutter speed

jaomul,
Camera setting at evaluative metering, AI Servo and AF. They all handheld.

I suggest you switch to One shot autofocus and try your lens on static objects at various focal lengths. This way you at leat can rule out whether the lens is focussing properly. Below is an example with this lens

I have that same lens.. I'm going to follow your advice and try to "test" the lens tonight.
