these are from the same set as i posted a few days ago. I believe the one taken at night was a trumpet fish. If any aquatic experts know for sure, feel free to correct me.

I like them both!
I am partial to the Trumpetfish though, they are really nice shots, people don't realize just how hard it is to do underwater photography.
Like you, I am pretty certain it is a Trumpetfish, I am not an expert though, but to be extra sure, I did a Google search too.

You say that you probably took this at night, if you did, why is the light coming from above? Not that it couldn't happen, I'm only curious... :)

The one and only Trumpetfish that I saw was off of Belize, about 30 miles from shore, and about 120' down. It was hiding in some black coral, and if you weren't looking, you'd not have seen it, it looked like a branch. :)

The last time I took any dive shots was with my 35mm a long time ago! Things have changed so much, I am envious of y'all that dive with digitals.

Thats a great question! The light is coming from above due to my dive buddy shining a spotlight down on the fish for me. My camera only fired a strobe for this photo instead of me using the spotlight mounted to my camera. She did this on a few photos that i took underwater at night. She constantly was above me looking down while i was near the bottom.

Nice. What camera and light did you use? I'm getting scuba certified soon, and want to get into underwater photography. I think I'm too afraid to dunk my 5diii in water though. Even with a decent housing.

Ever changing.

I have an Ikelite housing for my rebel t2i. I also have a Canon 5d Mark III and was conflicted. I did NOT want to flood my Mark III and the rebel was 4 years old but still takes amazing photos.

I have 1 Ikelite DS 160 strobe. I will be purchasing another before my next major dive trip in November. I will dive more before then, but that trips is gonna be kick ass.

I also use a Tokina fisheye lens. I bought it off ebay and its been fabulous. The Ikelite housing also has a ball mount attachment you can buy separate so i did just that to mount a Light and Motion SOLA 1200 light. The Ikelite strobe also can be used as a night dive light but the SOLA is amazing for night dives.

Feel free to PM me any questions or ask them here. Im loving UW photog so far and cant wait to take more. My trip in November is going to be once in a lifetime so im trying to get some practice in again before then.
