I bet it's a Red Kite then, which I understand to be a rare sight. Keep looking up my friend!
Check the Google images "red Kite" and you'll see those white wing bands.

Yes it is a Red Kite, glad to see they are getting down your way. They are becoming quite common in South Wales where I live.

As to the 20D/30D question - no I don't have mine anymore but my niece does - it is still working well!
A friend of mine sold his 20d (with approx 250K clicks on it) a few years ago to another friend of mine - she has used it quite a bit and has sold a number of images taken with it. That old 20d is still going strong and must now be approaching 300k acuations - it just keeps on taking good pictures!

Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).

I just hope to see them lower than a thousand feet up or more, as 400mm just wont get anywere near, just like my earlier pics.

I have also been learning from practice that with my 30D I am ok shooting In 640 Iso without worry over grain, Infact thy seem If anything smother with less noise than 100 Iso that I have tended to just stick with, mind you I have been shooting with + 1/3 rd exp comp to help...
