I will be traveling to Italy (Venice and Rome) at the end of April with my wife and two kids and wonder which body/lens I should take. With a few exceptions I will mostly be taking travel snapshots then serious photography on this trip. That said you never know when a good opportunity may arise ...... Wouldn't want to curse myself then.
Normally I would carry a few lens but it will be tough to manage changing lenses with kids so I started looking at 28-300 L, quite nice range and more or less decent reviews for the range. I am still unsure though
- never been to Italy, what focal range wil be good in rme and Venice ? (Any Italians hre ?) do I need telephoto or 16-35 and 24-70 is what I need ?
- recently recovering from knee injury I can feel every extra KG in m legs/knees. Every review I have read says 28-300 is heavy. Infact at 1.6 kg it is heavier then any other lens in my arsenal. They are lighter alternatives covering this range and one revives said tamron 28-300 performed almost as good as as 28-300 L but I am uncertain if anything other than the L will be a good match for 1DX.
Would love to hear your comments both on focal range for Venice/Rome and also on 28-300L vs competition.
