We came around a corner and there was a moma ellie and a baby ellie and baby ellie got a fright and made a mock charge, this rallied all the other ellies in the herd to quickly surround the baby, then the herd did a few mock charges which we warded off with the revving of the diesel engine. In the interim, the bull elephant quietly stood there evaluating the threat but did nothing, after a bit he made some sort of sound and the herd pretty much settled down and we left. That was the 1st charge of the day. No more than 30 minutes later we were charged by a bull in musth, he rammed a tree no more than 10ft away from the vehicle, again the guide revved the diesel motor and that kept him at bay. Dave and I were stopped by the side of the road and this big guy just came charging out of the bush, throwing sand and flaring his ears. I only had time to get this one shot before Dave decided it was time to get out of there! (Probably a good call!)
