a quick shoot at my dog last week

a week ago i took some quick shots of my dog running. this was the output:

Love the dog lol. She seems happy.

Definitely feel the pic lacks contrast and sky is a bit blown out. Some good PP can definitely save this pic and make it look nice. Something else seems to be missing, maybe better composition and the inclusion of a ball that she's chasing.

first of all, its a SHE, not he.
and thanks for the critique. unfortunately, i deleted the original raw (i delete all of my raws after pp or convertion to jpeg).
i will try to play with the jpeg abit though.

Whoops! Sorry about that lol. I know how important that is to dog owners and I apologize.

I would never delete my RAW files. Store them somewhere. You just never know when you will need them again.

Deleting your raw is like throwing your negatives away. Use LR and don't keep the jpg.

Image could use some pop. Perhaps some contrast?

DOF seems to be sharpest on the Collar. Anyway to push the crop so the dog is on the left hand or right hand side of the frame?

I think poochie could use a little sharpening and I'd clone out the little stream of saliva from her top lip. Overall seems a bit bright, maybe pump up the blacks a bit which will add some contrast too.

You must have a better monitor than I do, I can't see any drool on my 22 inch screen!

I agree about it needing some contrast

Focus to me is on the tounge, I've tossed many of these shots...

I know other people said this already, but it deserves emphasis. Deleting raw files is a huge mistake. It shoots yourself in the foot for future editing. Hard drive space is dirt cheap.

Yeah, you're right the outline of the tongue blends with a tooth and I mistook it!
