Well its been decades brother. Just had my best quarter I've ever had and just had an exhibit open last week its all good..... YOU.

Also f you read I have said all of those things I just have enough knowledge to be able to also show other more credible source that agree with me. Its always easy to say just anything. Much harder to put some knowledge and real meat behind it.

Open your eyes and look around.

And one should never trust pictures.

It's a mix of both. The better the gear, the more things you are able to do with a camera. However, an unskilled photographer or lay person probably wouldn't be able to do some of the stuff the expensive cameras are made for. However, a skilled photographer can do some amazing things with any camera. However, if the camera isn't good enough, it just won't work in certain locations, like a poorly lit sports arena.

Gary Winogrand:

To get this back on track. Heres the truth Jim no matter who says it. The gear and the skill wont matter one bit if you can't see no matter how hard you want to believe its that new camera or lens thats most important or that new technique you learned in the last video you watched from the new flav of the day is the most important. If you can't see you will never develop your own style and your work will look like everyone elses. You clearly do not believe that because we've discussed this very thing in other threads. But its that vision thats going to get you exhibits in the right places and thats going to attract the right clients. Without vision you are just one of the many. You seem to be content with that and thats OK but to say that the ability to see isn't the most important part of the process is wrong and I can't think of one great photographer that didn't to (the reason for the quotes) understand this and its part of the reason they are great. Gear only matters to the extent you need enough to be able to support hat vision and skill matters in the fact you don't want to limit that vision but its still should be the vision driving it all.
