8/10 Nice macro work. The main subject is consistently sharp and the background is nicely blurred. You might try adjusting the color of the BG in the upper part.

A well taken shot .. but would go with a 8/10 .. just for the crop .. would have loved if the other hand was fully visible too..

Nice shot, I like the treatment, it makes the photo feel "hostorical" my only critisism(s) the big yacht in the back ground is chopped off by the boats in front
& I like it better if the dark line of cloud at the top is cropped out

8.5/10

Lovely detailed shot - a classic pose but including habitat and the central nature, unusually, so suits the image

Start point 5/10
Positives: Pose +1, central comp +1, habitat comp +1, overall balance +1, focus +1
Negatives: maybe pull back on the bright highlights (but I struggled with finding anything wrong!) -1
9/10

Couldn't decide whether following the further, much faster boat paid off in this pan

^^^ No image so I'll rate the speed boats and continue on with watercraft!

I like the overall photo and it is a pretty decent pan, and it may be the look of the water but it seems maybe you could have opened the shutter a stop longer to get a better blurred effect. Also, it may just be my personal preference but the boat in the back seems to be in focus rather than the boat in the front, in this instance I would have rather the boat in the foreground be in focus (like you mentioned in your post). Overall I would give it a 6/10.

Lovely actionshot Pope, nice and sharp. Could be my eye, but it seems to tilt a little to the left.

It's not your eye it is. Nothing a little crop can't fix. Thanks for the kind words :)

^^^i like it, very nice! maybe just clone out the bottom left?

still working on how to properly use flash, does it still look a bit underexposed?

I feel it lacks contrast, and this may be due to the fact that yes, it is underexposed. I have not used flash in a setup like this, I have always used a white back drop, so on the black it is hard for me to say. But IMO I would turn the power up or open the shutter a little longer. Maybe a slight tighter crop, it looks nice and sharp too. 6/10.

Technically good - sharp and well exposed etc, but find it a bit boring....

6/10
