Canon is now switching over to making these, meanwhile they have discontinued making the old standard.

Result: You can't buy a 77mm lens cap made for Canon right now, of either style. lol
One is discontinued and out of stock, the other is new and not yet available.

If you have a local camera shop you might be able to check and see if they have stock.

Well, I've been using Tamrons for years on all my Canon lenses. No problems with quality or cost. Now Canon's changing to center-pinch, I'm going to have to break myself of ordering a Tamron lens cap with every lens. :{)#

Carefully inspect it... from reports I've heard, those off-brand caps can spontaneously explode and damage your lens! ;)

It's about time I order myself some center pinch caps for the lenses I have that didn't come with them. These things are just way too useful not to spend the small money on them.

Well I just bought a brand new 70-200 2.8 IS MKII and they now come with the Canon pinch caps. I have also bought a couple off Ebay before getting this lens and I give the edge to Canon caps but them 3rd party caps are pretty good I am not throwing them away LOL
