Hey guys. Back last year, my tripod mount failed and my 5d2 and my 24-70L took a 4ft dive to the floor. Since then I've just used my backup 24-70L and the first one just sat sadly in my closet for a year. I think it's about time I do something about it.
The ring mount stayed on the camera, but the lens tore apart. Surprisingly, the only damage from the fall onto thin carpet at a terrible angle, was just the ribbon being torn off. And we know how heavy a 5d2 with grip/batteries and a 24-70L can be. L glass can seriously take a beating.
Now because of the damage, I believe I need a new circuit board. Does anyone have any history of replacing these and have a general idea of the cost?
Or should I just not bother and just try to sell the lens off as is?
