Guys I have this question in mind... Can ETTL gives you accurate flash power/reading when bouncing off the wall or ceiling?

i felt this type of scenario is tricky for the ETTL flash.

Yes it works. Its still subject to the same vagaries of ETTL in general in that the reflectivity of the subject can still fool the camera, but it works.

It will work in the bracket exactly as it works in the hotshoe. The ETTL cord just moves the hotshoe. If you are getting a bracket, look at the camera rotate brackets rather than the flash flip style. The main point is to keep your flash above the lens regardless of orientation.

I do find it tends to underexpose more than when shooting direct so I dial in some positive exposure compensation on the flash itself.

It's not reading the light off the ceiling or wall, but off the subject. It shouldn't really matter, but practically speaking, you usually have to increase the flash compensation by 1/3-2/3 of a stop for accurate bounced flash exposure on Canon cameras. Someone tested it in this forum in the past- you may want to search for it if interested.

You want this http://www.bhphotovideo.com …_Camera_Flip_Bracket.html (external link)

Not this http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ick_Flip_350_Bracket.html (external link)

In the top one the camera rotates below the flash which maintains its position above your flash. That means you can use a bounce card, or any other modifier because its always above your lens. The second one is above the lens but when you flip the bracket and turn the camera the flash is lying on its side so that the bounce card is now out to the side making it less useful as you get side shadowing on vertical shots. These are the budget brackets. You can spend hundreds on dollars on brackets if you wish.

Have you used the top one? so many complains about it being unstable and no locking mechanism on the camera. Also won't work with a 5D with a grip.

what can you say about this?
