Not gonna solve the problem that "everything you own is on CD/disk". Just break down and buy an external....

Codda, in fact it did. I now have a full working version of Canon software without a CD, thanks to that link. Plus I downloaded the software via the link so I have the original on HDD.

There's a deleted post in here somewhere...my reference was to your statement with regard to owning copious amounts of data on disc...with inability to access it. I'm glad your situation is settled. Enjoy your new Mac!
